With the rapid growth of Taiwan economics, blooming gallery industry
and actively art market needs one organization to integrate. Therefore,
Art Galleries Association R.O.C.ˇ]AGAˇ^was established in 1992 and
has became the most important organization for researching and supporting
art industry.
AGA organizes the international art fair, Taipei Art Fair International,
annually. In 1997, as Asia was stroke by the economic crisis, most
art fairs were cancelled except Taipei Art Fair International.
Following the globalization of Taiwan industries, the art collectors
in Taiwan have extended their interests from Chinese artists to
Japan, Korean, South-east Asian and Western artists. Taiwan galleries
have also explored their business to Trans-Asian and established
the connection to the collectors there.
In order to service these new collectors, Art Taipei Executive Committee,
established in 2004, inherited from 12 years of successful exhibitions
of the previous Taipei Art Fair International, and renamed it as
Art Taipei. Focusing on the newest trends of Asian art market, Art
Taipei provides galleries more professional and customized services.
Except Art Taipei, AGA also organizes exhibitions and art researchˇGin
2000, publication of " Artist's story in Taipei"; in 2003,
publication of ˇ§2002 Visual Art Industry Annual Reportˇ¨ and etc.
From 2005, AGA started weekly e-newspaper to report international
and domestic art market news. |
