The Asia Pacific Art Gallery Alliance (APAGA), established in 2014, held an online meeting on April 22 to elect the third chairman of APAGA. The participating members included Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, Asosiasi Galeri Senirupa Indonesia (Jakarta District), and Taiwan Art Gallery Association. Japan Art Dealers’ Association, Galleries Association of Korea and Art Galleries Association Singapore were absent but handed in their letters of intent for election. With all votes and full supports from all APAGA members, Mr. Oliver Chang, the chairperson of Taiwan Gallery Association, was successfully elected as the 3rd Chairperson of Asia Pacific Art Gallery Alliance.

Mr. Oliver Chang appreciates the honor and supports from all members and promised that he will try his best to listen to voices from the members, gather and deliver hopes and solid helps to every member under the difficult pandemic period whether it is future collaborated exhibitions, art fairs or online activities. He sincerely look forward to more exchanges and close interactions among galleries in Asia-Pacific countries. At the same time, he will continue to seek potential gallery associations in Southeast Asian countries such as India, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines to join the Asia Pacific Gallery Alliance.

During the meeting, members also stated that due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the local galleries and art industries have been severely impacted. Taiwan, as the chair of APAGA, will support all members in their hour of need under this severe time and be together to conquer the difficulties. With the intention, Mr. Oliver Chang and Taiwan Art Gallery Association are immediately developing a practical plan to assist members to participate in ART TAIPEI 2021, happening in this October. Whether it is an online exhibition or a physical exhibition, Taiwan will do its utmost to help member countries and jointly enhance the Asian art market.
